December 30th was a very wet day in our house. Jeremy got off work early, came home and began detailing the Rodep so we can sell it. The water was running for about 3 hours outside and 3 hours inside our house. A pipe froze at some point in the past few weeks and water runneth through our house.

Last Saturday was Ryland 1st birthday party. It was supposed to be at a park but the weather was nasty, so 3 hours before we decided to move it to our house. Luckily only a few people were coming. It turned out great:

time flies when your.... busy! School, work, raising 2 boys, takes lots of time.
Today was Ryland's 1st birthday party. I can't believe he's turning 1 tomorrow :( His party today was supposed to be at a park but the weather was horrible. 3 hours before the party we decided to move it to our house and went into cleaning crazy mode! Tons of pictures were taken and will be uploaded soon.
Connor: doing great, mostof the time. he's 3, what else can I say. The attitude is amazing. He is completely out of Pull-Ups, even at night. we are beyond happy about it. He got a new bike for keeping his underwear dry at night for one week. He's doing well on it. He's a little scared b/c he fell a few times but we're working on it.
Ryland: 1 tomorrow! Taking a few steps at a time, then realizes he can crawl faster. Sleeping is still an issue most nights. Breastfeeding is still goign well. I was having issues with my milk supply but got it under control. He has started to drink regular milk. Trying to get him to take breast milk from a sippy is a challenge.
Jeremy: working very hard as usual. This upcoming week is the buffalo auction so he's been super busy with that. He recently got a gun and is going to try to go hunting this season.
Me: I am making progress on my thesis. I got a laptop so I can get out of the house to work on it. Work is good, I cut my hours to 2 days a week till I get finished with school.

A scary experience

Thursday night I did not sleep well. On top of Jeremy being gone, Ryland was up a lot and Connor woke up extra early. After I took the boys to daycare I came back home and went back to bed. I couldn't even keep my eyes open. I woke up at 10am freaking out that the boys were still asleep and I hadn't heard them up yet. I ran to Connor's room and he wasn't there. I tore his sheet off looking for him. I ran to Ryland's room and he wasn't there either. My heart was racing. I started screaming for Connor over and over. I looked at both the back door and garage door to make sure it was locked and no one had come in to get them. I ran back to my room and look for them, then back to the living room. The whole time I was screaming for Connor in a panic. I guess I didn't scream for Ryland b/c I knew he couldn't answer. I stood in the living room for a minute trying to figure everything out then realized what day it was and that I had taken them to daycare. I broke down crying. I guess I was asleep doing all this, but I remember it all. It was the most horrible feeling that I hope to never actually experience.

We went over to one of Jeremy's co-workers house for a cook-out and fireworks. Last year Connor enjoyed the sparklers, this year he wanted nothing to do with them. He'd rather sit back and watch. He was a good sport even though we didn't get home until 11:45pm. Today he was a grump! :)

This is Ryland's latest face. He breathes funny also while doing this, makes for some good laughs.

Wanted to share how my day went. There's no way I could have made this up, it all happened.

I woke up Connor for daycare at 7am he came and laid on the couch saying he didn't feel well (he'd kinda been feeling off for the past few days, rash, fever, upset stomach) About 15 minutes later he said he threw up in his bed and sure enough he had. So I planned to take Ryland to daycare and Connor to the doctor. He ate 1/2 a muffin, which if you know Connor, him eating only 1/2 a muffin= he's sick. I got the boys in the car and not even 2 block away I look at Connor and he throwing up. So I turn around and head back home and he continues to throw up. Got him cleaned up, on the couch and watching TV. By this time Ryland was ready for nap so I got him to sleep. He slept for 2 hours, then the madness began.

As Ryland was waking up, Connor said he wanted a piece of toast. I got Ryland and put him on the living room floor to make the toast. Connor was in my bed watching TV. I went to tell Connor his toast was ready and there's Ryland on the floor with poop everywhere. I pick him up and it just falls out of his clothes and still falling as I get him in his room. I unsnap his outfit and poop splats in my right eye. It takes 7-8 cloth wipes to clean him b/c there's so much poo! I put him in his crib with some toys b/c he couldn't get on the floor b/c of the poo. I cleaned both the living room and his bed room carpet and by that time he was screaming to get out of his crib. I put him on the floor and went to scrape the poop out of his diaper. (remember I use cloth) I was about to throw all the throw up clothes and towels from earlier and the poop clothes and diaper in the wash. I peaked in to check on Ryland, only to see him grabbing a piece of small furniture that is not bolted to the wall and it coming down on top of him. It landed and I got it off pretty quick. It may not have even completely landed on him, but it happened so fast. I had the poopy diaper in my hand but dropped it when I saw all this happening so there was more poop on me, on him and on the ground. I didn't care, I was just happy he wasn't hurt. Scared to death, yes, hurt? no. I got him calmed down everything was going good.

I made an appointment for Connor to see our doctor at 3:30. Jeremy came home early to watch Ryland. I made some toast for Connor in the car b/c he still had not eaten all day. He ate 2 bites while we were on I-44 and then promptly threw them back up all over him self. Did I bring clothes? NOPE! I stopped by our daycare and picked up the extra pair they have there and changed him before we saw in the doctors office. She gave us an Rx for topical Phengren and he ate 1 1/2 pieces of toast and was a happy boy again. Let's pray for a peaceful night.

Things have been so busy, I haven't gotten a chance really to write about what's been going on. Connor and Ryland started a new daycare, a home center. Our old place closed down so we were forced to find a new one. I am really happy with Mrs Lisa. Right now there is only one other child so it's nice. Both boys get lots of attention and they always have the same teacher.

Connor, well, he's 3, so the attitude is in full force. He wants things his way or no way. And usually it goes the 'no way' route ;) We got a small pool and he's swimming very well. Our neighbors have a large pool and we've been over there a few times and Connor does great. We also got season passes to the water park and Connor can go down the slides all by himself.

Ryland is growing so fast its hard to keep up. Right as he turn 7 months his first two bottom teeth came through. About 2 weeks ago he started scooting backwards and earlier this week he officially began crawling forwards. When he wants to go somewhere, he goes! He has also mastered going from laying down to sitting, which is great except for when he's in his bed and doesn't realize he can just lay back down. Do he sits there and cries till we come in there and lay him down. He also began to pull himself up on us when were on the ground with him. No furniture yet, but soon, very soon.

Jeremy will be going to the Gulf of Mexico clean up at some point in July we think. He'll be gone for 2 weeks and we're hoping Nonnie can make a visit while he's gone. I'm still working and in school. I've finished my required hours for my degree, now I have to write my thesis. I just need to buckle down and do it. I've had so many set backs, I'm very far behind, I just need to get in gear!

FL Trip

I had so much fun. The plane ride there by myself went great. The layover was a little rough trying to get food while push a stroller and carrying Ryland in the Mei Tai but it all worked out. Ryland slept the entire 2nd flight (thank you) and Connor watch TV and played with his toys. Going back was a bit harder, it was bed time and both boys wanted to be asleep but had a hard time. I hope to make it to FL again soon, but don't think its going to happen.

Ryland stayed home sick yesterday, running a fever pretty much all day. Last night he was really feeling bad so we put him in the tub with me to relax.

Although it helped for the time being, he ended up in the bed with us all night attached to my boob :) I really don't care, we got some sleep :)

Jeremy took the camera on his way to work and got some shots in the Refuge after the ice storm. Notice how thick the ice is.

Also, while we were without power I didn't give up on using cloth diapers. I was able to wash them, but had to hang dry. It took forever for them to dry this way.

On January 28th an ice storm came through our area. Over 6 days without power and running low on water it was an experience. We were able to get a generator and since our heat is gas, Jeremy was able to plug in the blower and we could heat our house. Made it much more livable. 90% of the meals were cooked on the grill and to blow dry my hair we had to unplug the fridge. I was super happy to get power back. All the trees look horrible. here are some pictures as the ice was beginning:

My little baby turned 3 on January 27th! That morning he was greeted by a Radio Flyer Wagon, Woody, a carpet for his cars and some other things. He had a great day and we went out to dinner that night to celebrate. I can't believe how fast time flies.

As Ryland has gotten older he is more curious and wants to look at everything. That's fine until he needs to go to sleep and he can because he so busy staring at everything. Here is our cure for now:
Blankets over him when he sleeps. When he's in his bouncy seat or laying in the bed with us we put a cloth diaper over his face to help him fall asleep. As soon as he's in deep slumber we move it, but this helps us for now.

Since becoming a mom of two

Everyone said it was harder going from one child to two, then zero to one. I couldn't agree more! Connor had all the attention and now has to share it. Ryland doesn't understand how to wait, when he's hungry, he's hungry right now and I have to feed him at that moment. Connor's done pretty well overall he just needs more mommy and daddy time that just isn't there.
Along with going from 1 to 2 kids is more laundry. We decided to do cloth diapers, which I love but man at the laundry. I have a load I need to wash right now actually. I kinda went over board buying at first so Ryland has a good amount so I can skip a few days, but soon I will have to wash every 2 days or poor kid won't have any diapers.
And potty training, well that's just a disaster right now. He has really good days and really bad days. Like this week, both Monday and Tuesday when I picked him up he was in different pants than I dropped him off in. His regular teacher was out sick so I think that was the problem, but on the other hand sometimes I think he just doesn't go to the potty to get attention. Because in that moment when we're talking about not going in his Pull-Up all eyes are on him and he enjoys it.
Am I happy? Yes. Am I tied? OH YES! Stressed? More than you'll ever know. Would I change a thing? Probably not!

Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 was very interesting. Lee was here a few days prior (so much fun) and The Christmas Eve 2009 Blizzard came through. Record setting snow fell and we had a white Christmas. Jeremy and I had never seen snow (stuff in FL does not count) so we were excited. One of my new years resolutions is to contribute more to the blog and post less pictures on Facebook. Mom got here Monday. Went to doctor yesterday, of course had issues with my BP so I'm, on bed rest until Ryland arrives. Now we're just playing the waiting game.

Today was my 38 week check up with my OB. Something going on down there but not much to get excited about. 1-2cm dialated and 50% effaced. He said he hoped that he'd see me this weekend b/c he's on-call but I hope not! Mom doesn't get here until Monday. Wait till then Ryland, wait till then!

37 Weeks

I started back to Grad school this past week, but the Dixon family has been very sick with colds, so I can't say I've actually done any school work yet ;-) but will have to start very soon b/c I have a paper due next week already.
Mom will be here on the 19th, hopefully Ryland will stay inside until then.

So Connor's has had his lovey, who he calls "baby" since he was born. The fur on it is kinda long and recently this became an issue. He would twirl his fingers in the fur like some kids do in their hair. Well, we've had MANY issue of having to cut Connor's finger out of "baby" b/c it was so tightly wound it was cutting off the circulation. Well this morning it happened again and Jeremy and I decided enough was enough. We don't want to risk him losing a finger, so no more "baby." He asked for it and I told him he got a new "baby" and pulled one out of the closet, along with a matching one off the floor and he was ECSTATIC! He didn't ask for the other baby and happily went to bed with the new ones. So hopefully no more issues with having to cut Connor's finger out of his "baby."

Work & School & such...

I started my new job last week and are really enjoying it. It's so nice to have a job doing what you love to do. I'm a breastfeeding peer counselor at the Health Dept. This will also help me get my hours for my degree so that's a real plus!

Connor is really liking his school now. No more crying, he just runs in there and starts his day. He knows either Jeremy or myself will "be right back" (in his words) and it makes him happy. They've started potty training, so we'll see how that goes.

Pregnancy moving right along. 31 weeks and will start going to the dr more often after this weeks visit. I have a doula to help me with labor and are very excited about this. Belly picture coming soon.

New beginnings

Lots has happened since we got back from Florida. Connor started daycare, but we call it school. It's been hard on him ,but each day gets a bit easier. He knows that after nap I come to get him so he wants to go to sleep as soon as possible.
Beginning on Monday, the 17th, I start a new job as a breastfeeding peer counselor at the Comanche County Health Department. I'm very excitement about this next chapter in my life. It will help me with my Graduate work and I get to help women with something I feel so strongly about. And getting paid is a bonus for sure!

My pregnancy is progressing quickly. As I type, I am 29 weeks and a few days. I've gone through Connor's old clothes and we've got pictures for the nursery but that's about it. Soon Connor will have new furniture and I'll be able to organize the nursery better.

Florida trip 2009

I know we've been back for a while, but I'm just now getting to post about our trip. We had so much fun and being with friends and family never gets old.

Wed, July 22 Daddy drove Connor and I to the airport. Connor did such a great job on the planes. We flew from Oklahoma City to Dallas, then to Tallahassee. On the layover in Dallas, we found a play area and Connor had a blast:

We had to wake Connor up at 4:45am to leave for the airport, so I wasn't sure how it would go but on the flight from Dallas to Tallahassee he fell asleep in my lap for the last 25 mins of the flight:

The first Saturday there was my 10 year class reunion! I had fun seeing old friends and catching up. Here's some of my classmates:

That following Sunday one of my best friends, Jessica, came to Tallahassee from Gainesville to visit. Her daughter, Sophia is Connor's age and they have always played very well together. About 4 weeks before we moved Isaac was born and I had not seen pictures of him since so it was fun to see how much he had grown. We swam and played really hard. They spent the night and needless to say, having two 2 year olds and a 3 month old in the same house was hectic but a blast!

During the week I took Connor to Zoinks, which is basically just a bunch of bounce houses to play in. Connor had so much fun, I had to drag him out of there:

The next big event of the trip was Chad and Kelli's wedding. Jeremy was the best man and we had lots of fun:

Sunday before we left, Jeremy's family come over for the day and it was so much fun hanging out with everyone. We swam and ate and played with blocks of course:

We flew home the next day, Monday August 3rd. It was a fun trip and we're looking forward to going back after the baby is born.

Yesterday was filled with fun and excitment as we celebrated our first fourth of July in Oklahoma. After nap, we went to Medicine Park to watch the rubber duck race that we'd heard about. We got there just as it started and the ducks raced down the river to the finish line.

After that we knew we wanted to keep Connor awake to do some fireworks so we drove around the lakes and visited some places we had wanted to see, but had not yet. We headed home to eat a late dinner and after Jeremy set up some fireworks. Connor loved it and was scared at the same time. He clinched onto me with dear life, but had a smile the whole time.

Our house is starting to get more organized, but SLOWLY. It seems that we can only do things when Connor is sleeping, b/c he wants to get into everything, and it just easier. I can't organize during the day b/c I'm entertaining him like I should be doing, so nap and night time is busy time it seems.

Funny story...
The other day I saw Jeremy's wallet sitting at our desk and decided to put a Post-It note in there saying "I Love You" He kept it in there to make him smile. Well, tonight we went to dinner and was paying cash and pulled out the money and without realizing almost handed out server the note I gave him. I would have loved to see the server face if he had actually given it to her!

Family Date Night

Yesterday was such a fun day with Connor. I love when he's in a good mood and laughs nonstop. Jeremy came home and we decided to go out to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. While waiting for our food Daddy introduced the "I got your nose" game and WOW what a hit that was. The laughing never stopped. We needed to exchange a movie from the store so while Jeremy was doing that I asked Connor to ask Daddy if we could get ice cream on the way home. As soon he got back in the car Connor screams happily "Daddy can we get ice cream?" Jeremy knew I had told him to ask ;) We went to Sonic and I ordered a chocolate molten cake, Connor got ice cream with chocolate syrup and Jeremy got a strawberry shake. Connor dove right in, enjoying a few bites then realized I had something different. He asked what it was and I gave him a bite. That was the end of my dessert. He proceeded to eat all of mine that was left ( I had only taken maybe 5 bites) and then a few more bites of his before Jeremy and I stopped him from being sick. In the middle of all this he says "chocolate cake is my favorite" All we could do was laugh hysterically.
As we were leaving it had started to rain lightly and got heavier as we drove home. Jeremy got Connor out of the car while I unlocked the door. Daddy and Connor ran inside with Connor laughing because he was getting wet. We had decided to skip bath because it was past bedtime, but Connor had so much fun getting wet in the rain I suggested that we go play in it since it wasn't lightning or thundering. We danced and sang for 20 minutes having a blast. Connor went to bed with a huge smile and I have great memories of playing in the rain with Connor.

Wednesday I went and saw me new OB and was very pleased. That morning from 4-5:30 I was throwing up from what I concluded was food poisoning, so I wasn't as happy and talkative as usual, but he was very nice. I was there for a lonnnggg time so I'm glad Jeremy was home with Connor. My due has been changed to October 28th, 2009 and I've gained 12 pounds. ooppps. I was told to slow it down some so I did buy anymore cookies or ice cream once I ran out this week. He told me I should only gain between 15-20 pounds, but I don't see that happening. I won't get huge, but a few more pound won't hurt ;-)
Tuesday, the 23rd, we find out the sex. Since no children under 10 are allowed Jeremy came up with the idea that he would watch Connor and I would go by myself. When I get there, I'm going to ask the u/s tech to not tell me the result but put the pictures in an envelope and seal it and we'll open it together when I get home. Now that's going to be really hard, b/c I'll be watching the screen and I know what a boy or girl looks like. Stay tuned for the results on Tuesday...

Last night after Jeremy and I got in the bed I was laying on my back and tiny baby started to move around. Jeremy has tried a few times to feel him/her but with no luck. But last night s/he was dancing away and Jeremy got to feel movement, good strong ones. I've been feeling them since about 10 weeks, only b/c I knew what I was looking for, but now that Jeremy has felt it, it makes it so much more real for him. I go to my first drs appt here on Wed, then have to schedule another appt for an ultrasound, but it won't be too long before we know if it's a him or her in there kicking me all the time.

Almost everything is unpacked, but not in place. The moving company came the other day to pick up the boxes which has opened up lots of room in the garage. Our mission this weekend is to make room for my car in the garage. Once the cold weather gets here I will have to have my car inside to get it warm, having a newborn and all :)

We've made it to Oklahoma! It was a smooth ride and uneventful, which was nice. Saturday night we stopped in New Orleans, but were both so tires we didn't stay out too late. But of course we ate breakfast at Cafe Du Monde before heading to TX for the night. Monday we made it to OK and are in our new home! The moving truck got here on Tuesday and Connor got here Thursday. Nonnie and Poppy brought him via airplane. Our house is kinda unpacked, but livable. Jeremy starts his new job Tuesday so that's exciting. Pictures to come later...

Jeremy and I went on a 5 day trip to see where we are going to be living and to find a home. We had an awesome agent who worked really hard. We have been so busy it's crazy. We listed our house with an agent and knew we had to do something with our kitchen (appliances from 1963) So we've got a new stove, microwave hood and fridge. We had replaced our dishwasher a few months back when the old one exploded, literally. We are got new counter tops and Jeremy installed a tile backslash. I think I actually like my kitchen now :) The outside has gotten painted, along with the guest bedroom, which was the only room not painted since we moved here. Everything is starting to look real good. Once we have everything nice and neat, the real estate agent will come take pictures and hopefully it will sell.
Jeremy and I are traveling April 23-28 to Oklahoma on a house hunting trip. There is lots for sale out there, we are uneasy about having 2 mortgages.
Jeremy is set to start is new job May 26, so that is QUICKLY approaching, and we'll be moving about 1 week prior to that.
I'll post an update after we return from our trip.

So for years now Jeremy has been looking for a job with the Federal Gov't working with Wildlife. They are very hard to find. He's only applied to maybe 2-3 over time just b/c they are so scarce. Well a few weeks ago he got called and had a phone interview for a job at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. A few days later they called and check references and it's been a few weeks so we had given up hope. Well, this past Thursday they offered him the job! He beat out 134 eligible applicants for the position. The perks and benfits are AMAZING. However this is all happening very quickly. He is set to start in 2 months. So we have to sell this house, find a house and move out there in approximately 6 weeks time. We told my parents today and are telling Jeremy's parents tonight when we get to Madison. We are very excited and scared at the same time. In our minds this is a temporary (maybe 3-5 years) job and will move back to FL. Since he will be a Federal employee it will be a lot easier to transfer into a position in FL.

I had an ultra sound yesterday b/c I was having some cramping and light spotting. Everything look great and we got to see little munchkin dancing all around. S/he is about an inch long. Here are some pictures:

Random thoughts

Last night as we were putting Connor to bed, Jeremy said "I love you Connor" and Connor said right back to him " I love you daddy" and he said it to me right as I was putting him down for the night. Melted my heart and almost brought tears to my eyes. Then I tried to get him to say it again , but he wouldn't so I said "I", trying to get him to repeat me. Promptly he looked at me, pointed to his nose and said "nose" I couldn't help but laugh.

Thanksgiving is next week and I really enjoy this time of year. Getting together with family and friends is always memorable. Luckily our parents are not too far apart so we get to spend time with both. Wednesday we will be headed to Madison to eat Thanksgiving dinner at Papa's house on Thursday. That evening we will head to Tallahassee to eat at my parent's house on Friday. Friday is also known as "black Friday" and I'm not sure yet if I will be getting really early to do any shopping or not. The Dixon side had decided to draw names and the French side is not exchanging gifts at all, so we don't have too much to buy this year, thank goodness. Money is tight around here, as it is with most everyone.

Saturday is the FSU/UF football game and with some luck FSU will pull one out, but I highly doubt it. Our plans are to leave Connor with Nonnie, and we'll meet up with friends and have a good time.

Yesterday my friend Jessica and her little girl Sophia came to play. We went to Alligator Park then played on our backyard and had lunch. The kids were so dirty that there were no amount of wipes available to wipe them off, so in the tub they went:

Last night we took Connor to his first Fair. He had a blast.We rode the carousel once and the train twice. If only it was so dang expensive, I think he would have stayed on the train all night long. Sorry for the blurriness. The ride went too fast for our slow camera to take a good picture.

California was a lot of fun. Jeremy and I had a great time together and Alyssa's wedding was beautiful. Here's a time line of our trip:

Monday, September 15th we got there, hung out for a bit at Trevor and Alyssa's house, Checked in to our room at The Tides Inn then went to Alyssa's parents condo to cook out dinner. After realizing the grill wasn't working, we moved everything indoors. Before dinner we went to a bar up the street that was overlooking the ocean.

Tuesday, September 16th was Jeremy and I day to site see. We went to a Marine Animal rescue center and walked around Laguna Beach in all the stores. We went to a winery but was not impressed at all. We also got some really pretty pictures of the beach. That night we went out on a boat the some of Trevor's friends owned and had a lot of fun. After the boat ride we went to a bar. Alyssa and I played Rock Band and I didn't do so well. (maybe the bottle of wine I drank on the boat had something to do with it?) Needless to say we all had to take a taxi home :)

Wednesday, September 17th was the girls day to go to the Ellen Show, and Jeremy and Trevor had a boys day. I don't have any pictures from the Ellen Show because no cameras are allowed, but we had so much fun. Alyssa and I got to sit on the front row and Ellen danced right by me. We were on TV for just a second. On the show that day was Benjamin Bratt, some kid from You Tube, and singing was Akon, Ashanti, and Nelly. It was fun. As Ellen was interviewing the trio, Nelly announced that he had brought this Apple Bottoms Bag for everyone! We also got his latest CD. Jeremy and Trevor had a fun time racing go carts and bar hoping. They both drank a little too much and it was fun to watch them the rest of the night:

Thursday, September 18th was all about getting our nails done and the rehearsal and dinner at The White House. Once again, it was a blast to hang out with my best friend:

Friday, September 19th: Wedding Day!! Everyone met at Alyssa and Trevor house then went their separate ways. Girls to get ready and boys to get ready. Jeremy entertained himself by finding some really good hiking trails. We only have one camera, so sadly he wasn't able to get any pictures of the beautiful sites he saw. All the girls (Myself, Alyssa, Corrine, Lauren, Karen and Jeanine) went to get our hair done, then back to the condo for make-up, then pictures before the wedding at Laguna Village. We (the wedding party) all wore matching dresses, flip flops and toe rings. We looked very cute. After a little stress, the wedding was a beautiful event and Alyssa and Trevor will live happily ever after.

Saturday, Alyssa and Trevor wanted to spend time with us, because who knows when we will get to see them again :( We laid out at the pool at Surf and Sand where they spent their wedding night. That night we all went out to dinner at Big Belly Deli and had pizza, salad and beer, before they left for the honeymoon to Sandals Jamaica

Sunday was the travel day back home. It was long day and we arrived back home at 2:00am Monday morning. Right away Jeremy and I went to Connor's room and picked him up. We missed him terribly, but he had a blast with Nonnie. These are pictures from the plane, leaving CA.

California was fun and beautiful, but I have to say that I like Florida just fine.

Not too much going on here. I'm on a break from class and Jeremy's getting ready for hunting season with work. Monday we leave for California for 6 days and we can't wait. My mom is staying here with Connor. I will have lots of pictures when we get back.

I can't believe how fast time is going by. Its almost September. Things are good here. Jeremy is gone all this week doing more bear work in South Florida. Tropical Storm Fay is giving him a good soaking today and we'll get it up here starting tonight and through the weekend.
On Thursday my classes start at Lake City Community College that I teach. The college is trying to get together an additional class for me but I'm not sure if that will happen.
On an up note I officially finished with my first semester of grad school. Man what a good feeling. Between now and then I'm just doing stuff around the house and waiting for our trip to Laguna Beach, CA Sept 15th.

Well C-man is all better. Connor and I did make it to Tally, but of course not without more throwing up. We were at Jim & Milt's for breakfast and I guess he wasn't ready for whole milk just yet and he let loose as we were eating. Then on Monday I deicided to come home early and drive while he was sleeping that night. As I'm in the neighborhood by the interstate he starts the throw up all over in the car, so back to my mom's I went, gave him a bath, switched car seats with mom (thank goodness she has one) then drove home. He finally went back to daycare today and was fine. Although I'm not giving him milk just yet ;)

While in Tallahassee I got to see friends and family, which is always nice. My best friend Amy's little one is 11 months old and like Connor loves to give kisses. They were basically making out in the pool. I couldn't get my camera to take pics fast enough but here are some pre and post kissing:

Connor has a stomach bug that seems to be going around. I think it started last Friday with a fever, but he was OK over the weekend. Last Sunday we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and we threw up there, but Jeremy and I thought it was because he was feeding himself with a fork and he ate too much. Monday he was kinda cranky. Tuesday night he didn't eat hardly anything for dinner. Wednesday he ate nothing but nursed before bed as usual. About an hour later I heard him in his room awake and sure enough there was puke everywhere. Then about two hours after that, again he threw up. No more that night, but yesterday he woke up still cranky and pulling at his ear. So we went to the pediatrician and as we are waiting he throws up in the waiting room, mostly on him, some on me. The nurse practitioner says it should last 5-7 days. (not sure when I should start counting?) Later that day he was acting OK, still not eating much but some toast, banana and apple sauce I was holding him and he threw up all over me again. Luckily Jeremy was home early and helped get the situation cleaned up. Then this morning at 4:30 once again we were changing sheets and blankets. He woke up around 7:45 and as I was walking into the kitchen with him, yep you guessed it, puked all over me again. Gotta love the smell of breast milk coming back up 3 hours later :)
He's down for a nap now. If today is like yesterday, he'll sleep almost 4 hours, I know he needs it. I'm waiting to see if he gets better b/c we are supposed to go to Tally this weekend to visit. I have a felling we won't be making it though :(

Then it was time for CUPCAKES. Connor went crazy when he saw them and had to have one RIGHT THEN. Not sure why b/c he has not had cake or icing since his first birthday. He had a vanilla and chocolate one because the first one fell on the ground and man was that upsetting to him :)

Well I finally decided to go to the dr on Tuesday and she said I had a sinus infection (no surprise), ear infection (kinda surprised) and bronchitis(WHAT!!!) so I'm on a load of meds that are finally kicking in and I'm not coughing anymore. Looking forward to catching up on school work tht had gotten behind.

I'm taking Connor to the doc tomorrow b/c he's had a bad diaper rash for about 2 weeks now. We went once already and they said it was a yeast infection. I made a home diaper cream out of 4 ingredients and it was working until yesterday. I picked him up from daycare today and she said his bottom had been bleeding and sure enough its really bad again. So I think we need an Rx for something strong to knock it out. Since Connor is almost 18 monthsd old I'm going to try to squeeze in his well check up tomorrow. Cross your fingers :)

Well this house still is not completely better. We'll be good for a few days then one of feels bad again. Its getting really old. I guess everything has to run its course. I know Connor brings home germs from daycare and we can't help that. Speaking of daycare, last week, which was week six for him, was the first time I was able to leave without him crying!!!! Everyday since I kiss him bye and he waves bye to me. So sweet. It took six weeks but we made it :)

Last weekend we had a picnic and Connor fell and got his first busted up nose:

Combine the scab with a snotty nose in the morning and its a lot of fun getting him cleaned up, let me tell ya. Its getting better now, just scabby (if that's even a word)

On the job front, I was informed that I can't see patients at Shands Lake Shore so on Monday the 21st I am beginning to work with the lactation Consultant at Shands UF in Gainesville. This is so much better for me. I will a lot more experience and hands on contact. The only down side is driving there two days a week. We figure it will cost about $15 per trip :0 and gas isn't getting any cheaper. Oh well, I have no choice about this, I have to get the contact hours for my degree.

Oh man, what a week

Last Thursday Jeremy said he was starting to feel sick. By the end of the day so was I. Achy and sore throat. Jeremy got better, I didn't. I felt bad all weekend but was OK to begin my new position at Lake Shore on Monday. Tuesday I was in G'ville running a bunch of errands and came home b/c I was feeling bad. Connor had been going to daycare and running a slight on/off fever. Tuesday Jeremy started feeling really bad and it has gotten worse from then. His fever hasn't dropped below 101 since Tuesday evening and Connor was running 102 pretty much all day today. Jeremy got in to see the doc and has strep really bad. His white blood count was 19.9, it should be less than 10.5, so that tells you how sick he is. He got a shot of Rocephin and has to go back in the morning for another shot. We got home and Connor went right to nap, after I took his temp (102 again) and gave him Motrin. I woke him up 2 hours later to go to the pediatrician where his fever was still at 101.3. He tested positive for strep very quickly and the NP put me on antibiotics also since I've been not feeling well for a week now. Jeremy is till running a fever and hopefully it will end tonight once the antibiotics kick in. I am super behind in my classes but will be able to catch up once everyone is feeling better. My first week working at Shands wasn't very impressive and hopefully I have not made them upset at me, being my first week and all. We'll see when I go back on Monday.

Yesterday I worked with my first mom concerning breastfeeding. It went great and I left there knowing I have made a great choice for a career. I can't wait to help more women. What a wonderful feeling it is.

Connor got his first haircut this past weekend and did a great job sitting still. He looks like such a little man now:

Connor also started daycare today and did a great job. He slept on a mat on the floor by himself for about 1.5 hours. He missed me terribly and was ready to go when I got there. Hopefully by then end of the week there will be no crying.

I'm in my fourth week of school and its going OK. Connor's daycare didn't work out so I'm doing school while he naps, at night and on the weekend. Last weekend we had family reunion in Daytona beach and had a blast. Seeing all my family is so much fun and I wish we could do it more often. He loved the beach and the pool even more. I also got great news this week: I got a phone call from the Dietitian at Shands at Lake Shore wanting to bring me on as a volunteer to work with new moms. I will get lots on contact hours and great experience. I am very excited. I plan on starting once one of my classes is finished the first part of June. Now we will probably have to put Connor in a regualr daycare full time since I will be volunteering 2-3 a week hopefully. It will be good to get him around more kids.

This weekend is Mother's Day and I've got lots of school work to do. Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy my day a little.

Connor had his first experience with the sprinkler a few days ago and he had a blast. I will be buying one that is not so rough so he can really have fun. I can't wait for swimming lessons this year.

On Monday I start grad school, ahhhh, I'm scared and I can't wait at the same time. I found someone to watch Connor 2-3 days a week and she is right down the road. Yippie I don't have to drive to the complete opposite side of town. I think it's going to hard on him at first but he needs to be around kids more often to learn to share and let someone else take care of him.

The Dixon household has been very busy lately, hence no posts :) The first week in March I was driving to Jacksonville every day for the Certified Lactation Counselor course. That was exhausting to say the least. I should know the results of my exam in 2-4 weeks. Additionally I start grad school April 14, and I'm very excited. We are in the process of trying to find a part-time daycare for Connor, and that's been hard. Most people only want kids his age to be full time.
Easter was nice. My mom got him a very cute outfit and he love his basket and plastic eggs. here are some pictures from Sunday.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. As I was blow drying my hair this morning Connor walked in with a card for me :) He signed it and everything. It was very sweet and almost brought tears to my eyes. No special plans here, just a nice dinner, dessert and that's it.

Connor's down for his nap right now, when he gets up we'll be going to Publix for all the stuff for dinner and I need to mail some packages.

I finally got some video of Connor walking. Its not great but at least its something. He's doing really good and can walk across the living room with out falling. When he does fall he get right back up and goes for it again. As you will see he loves the camera and won't do anything else while its pointed at him.

For those who heard about that huge pile up on I-4 between Tampa and Orlando, that's where jeremy's going. There was a fire and they are there to make sure it doens't come back. However two weeks is going to be so lonely around here. There's only so much you can talk about with Connor :p

He's walking so well now. He'll fall, get right back up and go some more. Soon we won't be able to keep track of him. Every time I try to get a video he stops, so maybe sometime soon.
